6 Tips to Cool Down in Warm Weather


We are well into the dog days of summer so I thought a post about cooling down would be especially useful for those unbearable days. Maybe because Im pregnant, but I feel like this warm weather is making me even more tired than usual. Even just sitting at my desk typing this I feel like I just want to close my eyes and go to sleep. I kept telling myself there has to be a way to not feel like this all the time! So lately I have been implementing ways to wake myself up and cool down, because I got stuff to do and this weather is not going to stand in my way!

1. Facial Spray:
My favorite is the Caudalie Beauty Elixir, it has a herbal/minty scent and always makes me feel refreshed and awake. Do you have any favorite drug store facial mists? I haven't seen any good enough drug store versions to not justify spending $50 on this! I would love to try a more affordable version so please let me know in the comments.

2. Eat water based foods and drink more water:
All the summer produce is hitting farmers markets and grocery stores right now and things like blueberries, watermelon, cucumber, and zucchini are all in season. Try to incorporate more foods like this into your diet because they are higher in water content, and in my opinion just taste better when they are in season so you might as well take advantage while you can. A great way to make plain water taste more appealing and get you more hydrated is to add a pinch of sea salt and some mint or fruit to your bottle. My favorite right now is to add lemon, mint, and a pinch of sea salt...YUM!


3. Along the same dietary lines-eat more often but smaller meals:
 I feel like this one comes naturally to me during summer because I hate feeling super full when its hot out. The more frequent meals will keep your energy up and make you feel less lethargic making you more apt to get up and get moving.


4. Take a shower or jump in a pool/ocean if you have access to either:
I know no one wants to wash their hair too much, but nothing feels better than just giving in when its hot out and taking a nice cool shower in the summer. This is probably common sense but just thought I'd throw out a friendly reminder that it is still summer even though everyone (including myself) is obsessing over fall, so enjoy it while you can!

5. Essential oil diffuser:
 I love using any minty or orange scent during the summer, and lavender is my favorite for the evenings. We have also been using incence lately at night, and I love how it makes the bedroom smell before falling asleep (we have been switching back and forth between vanilla and lavender).

6. Refrigerated jade roller or spoon:
This feels so amazing after coming in from out doors, the coolness brings any redness down on my face and just cools me down right away. You don't have to limit this to your face either, this feels really nice on sunburns or on your back to if you have someone that can do it for you.

What I'm wearing:

T-shirt
Kimono (similar one)
Shorts: the most flattering and comfy maternity shorts I have found yet far!
Shoes: TTS but rub against my heel so make sure you break them in before wearing them on long walks!
