The Happiness Effect

Have you ever had one of those days that just starts out like complete shit, so it makes you feel like the rest of your day is going to be the same way. Well newsflash sistah, if you allow those feelings to creep in, guess what!? You will feel like that for the rest of the day. Rolling with punches and taking each moment as it comes rather than holding on to it after it leaves is how happiness remains. You make a mistake and a complete fool of yourself...so what! Move on and kick butt, let that be the fuel that ignites the rest of your day.

I'm going to be completely and utterly honest with you, of course this is easier said then done...don't you think everyone would be happy if they could. The way to master this is to focus on your life day by day and make small achievable goals that eventually fall into the greater scheme of your life. Believe me...this takes practice. I'm no guru don't get me wrong, I sit behind this computer, unemployed, just graduated college (after 8 years undergrad), and left questioning if I should even be writing this post. But, I know what I want and I have a plan on how to get it. I know it won't be tomorrow or maybe even next year, but guess what I'm not afraid to go for what I want and neither should you!

This blog is a passion project that I would love to make into a full-time career. I know that takes gusto and a lot of hard work, that at times may seem not worth it to others. What they say won't change me going for it though. You want to know why...If someone tells you you shouldn't do something you want with your life and for that reason, you don't do it...well guess what buttercup, maybe you weren't actually meant to do it in the first place. If someone asks should I start a blog, and I say no (P.S. I would never tell anyone this, starting a blog is amazing and so much fun and I think everyone that wants to should, this is just for the sake of example)...if they don't start one because of what I said, it means they didn't have enough passion to follow through anyway.

Catch my drift, pickin' up what I'm puttin' down? This could sound kind of bitchy at times, but maybe what we need is to wake up to what is right in front of us. Pressing publish on this post is probably going to send shivers down my spine because of how honest and raw I am being and maybe it looses me a couple readers, but this is who I am, and I'm not willing to hide behind a facade any longer, and neither should you. You want to start a business, you want to get in shape, you want to go back to school? Guess what you can, don't let arbitrary things get in the way because you will figure it out even when times are the hardest you have ever had.

Let me set something straight though, I don't mean you should be impulsive and make life altering decisions at the drop of a hat. If your not ready, your not ready. Sometimes it takes longer for others to make the same decision one person can make in an instant. But that is why the world is so interesting and why it is so worth it when you reach your goals. I'm going to stop my blabbering because I could go on and on. Long story short, a new year is right around the corner...are you where you want to be? I have this quote over my oven and I think it applies to this post perfectly "If you change nothing...Nothing will change." I leave you with that and hope you have a happy Tuesday!
