The 4 Best Photo Editing Apps for Instagram

Here we go with another start to another week, can you believe Thanksgiving is next week!? I can't. Before you know it, it'll be December. I thought it would interesting to talk about the photo editing apps I use for my Instagram photos, because why not. These are the apps that are my favorites, and I even use some of them everyday for my posts.

1. VSCO
The first one is VSCO, this is the one I use the most. I use this for all my Instagram pictures and most of my blog pictures. I think this is the easiest multitasking photo editing app that I have found. It is free to download the app and use a majority of the filters, but I just pay a small fee a year ($19.99) to get access to to VSCO X. VSCO X gives 100+ presets and ones you can use on film too! Price per usage works out in my favor for this one considering I do daily blog posts and usually post to my Instagram twice a day. I love that you can save the edits you create and paste them on to other photos to cut time in the editing process. The filter I use is C8 and I always up the sharpness and clarity. If you are just starting out and your photo editing needs aren't crazy, then the free app will work just fine, you can always purchase presets that you like and play around to find your aesthetic. These pictures are before and afters using the app and my chosen preset.

2. Unfold
I love using this app to add a personal touch to Instagram stories and it has so many options to create a curated story. This app is also free but has in app purchases. An example of this at work is this story I created for the beaches at Tulum. These three are all pictures I took on my Nikon D3300 and edited on VSCO. This app just allows for a unique way to present multiple photos or to tell a story, its a pleasant change from plain old collages.

3. Lightroom CC
I don't use this one much anymore since I purchased the yearly VSCO X subscription, but my favorite part of this app is the lighting..big surprise, it's in the name! The app allows you to increase exposure and play around with highlights and contrast so your images don't look too over exposed. I use the free app on iPhone when I do use this and it allows for darker images to be easier to see and edit.

4. Airbrush
This is great if you feel self conscious of larger pores and want to do a little blurring before posting, but thats not actually what I use the app for! I utilize the brightening tool on things I want to pop in the picture. for the photos below I brightened my body, the water, and the yellowish orange plant in the corner. It just makes things more vibrant and pulls your eyes towards an area in the picture.
