Comparison: The Killer of Joy

I honestly think Instagram is the new hear me out. Just like you can get addicted to drugs, I think you can get addicted to the instant gratification the app brings. The market is so over saturated right now and the algorithm just keeps changing. It leaves me to question what in the literal hell is going on. I get so excited about posting my daily outfits, only to see my engagement go lower and lower. I feel like I'm comparing myself to others every single day and its not fair to me or them. I want my blog to grow, but for the right reasons...that my readers enjoy what I'm putting out there.
I'm so over busting my ass to post twice a day on Insta just to get the blog noticed. My blog is my primary focus and will always be what I want my hardest work to go into. I want my blog to speak for itself and for all the good content I create to be here first.  Not a picture with 100 words that I made up on the fly...okay so sometimes I can spend hours writing them...but that makes the point shine even brighter. Your worth isn't attached to your social media following, in reality it's something you make up and believe on your own.

What are we doing, how have influencers become the new norm and goal? I have had an epiphany of sorts I guess you could say. I want to focus on creating content that is helpful and original rather than trying to get noticed. If you enjoy what I write then great, but if you don't, that's okay too. In life you aren't going to please everyone so why waste energy doing that when you have so much to offer the world. Don't go down the rabbit hole of comparison, because you don't know how people got to where they are at, how long it took them, and what is going on in the background.

Everyone is unique and special in their own way and no one is better at being you than you. It doesn't even matter if you don't know who you is yet! Its time to start enjoying the journey as much as the destination. Once you hit that destination, you're going to start a new journey, thats just how life works. I'm not saying don't set goals, but what I am saying is enjoy what it takes to reach those goals as much as getting there. If your not happy now is the time to make changes...not tomorrow, now! You are the keeper of your own happiness, not anyone else. I may be getting into rant territory at this point...but I know I'm not alone in feeling this way, and I wanted to let others know if they are feeling and thinking this way, they aren't alone either. Have you started thinking about your goals for the new year? If you don't mind sharing, let me know in the comments below.

Happy Sunday!
