The Grass Isn't Always Greener

I wanted to hop on the blog today and talk about social media and how it can appear like other's lives are absolutely perfect by looking at their curated feeds on Instagram or their blogs. In the social media space it may seem like you know everything about a person because they share their life everyday, but you have to realize that the majority of the time it's almost like that is their highlight reel.

Many people won't share the negative things that they are going through like the fight they had with their spouse or the bill they got in the mail. It can be easy to forget that everyone is human and it can be difficult to see that from behind a screen. Many people will only share the positive aspects of their life because being vulnerable can be difficult and uncomfortable.

I am particularly passionate about this topic because it can be hard not to compare yourself to others that you see on Instagram. It's important to remember that you are not seeing everything that person is experiencing and though you make have a view of a portion of their life you most definitely are not seeing everything they experience...and do you even really want to? How boring would that get? A live view of someone else's life (it would probably be really weird and uncomfortable).

I think this thought and principle could be spread to all aspects of life as well. Just because you put someone you meet on a pedestal and think about their life in a certain manner does not mean that they are actually experiencing everything you think about their life. The moral of the story is to remember that the other person is a human being just like you and they have struggles and obstacles just like you do.
I know this was a shorter post, so I plan on posting two tomorrow to make up for it. Have a good night!
