Morning Skincare Routine

The cooler weather has finally arrived and I can't wait to do all the outdoor activities that fall brings. Taking care of myself and my skin is super important to me and keeps me feeling happy and healthy. I have been following the same skincare regimen for almost 4 months now and I will say, I have seen a noticeable difference in my skin. I don't tend to get a lot of acne, however my skin does get red and irritated on my nose and cheeks often. The texture of my skin doesn't tend to be very smooth either but exfoliation does help. Just like everyone else I have good skin days and bad skin days, but following this routine has made my skin a lot more normal and balanced. With almost everything in life, repetition and consistency is important. Keeping with a routine allows for success at least when it comes to my skin.

I have to mention drinking water as one of the most important things you can do for your skin, staying hydrated is extremely important and you shouldn't depend solely on moisturizer to keep your skin smooth and vibrant. Along with consuming foods that have a high water content, I try to drink at least 8 cups of water a day if not more and carry around two large reusable water bottles because I can't refill them at work.  I also try to avoid foods that are heavily breaded or fried and have noticed drinking alcohol does make the redness on my face worse (but girl that doesn't stop me from enjoying my red wine). Other people may not notice however whenever I take a picture or look in the mirror it is something that makes me feel self conscious.

I normally start out my skincare routine with the Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser. This cleanser always makes my skin feel super clean and fresh and I enjoy the subtle but not overpowering scent. I take time with this step and massage the foam into my face while breathing in the scent. To an outsider this would probably look like I'm a complete weirdo and enjoying massaging my face a little too much...but to each their own. If its a morning when I feel like my skin is a little dull I will do a mild exfoliation with the Clinique 2-in-1 exfoliating cleanser. This just revives my skin and makes it feel and look more vibrant. After using the exfoliating cleanser I will cleanse again with the Clinique cleanser just to make my face feel really fresh. You don't have to double cleanse, I just choose to because I have found it makes my skin feel cleaner.

After washing my face I move on to the Caudalie Beauty Elixir Mist, I spray this all over my face and neck and let it sit and dry before moving on to a serum or booster.

I was using the Vichy Mineral 89 Skin Fortifying Daily Booster but I recently ran out and Walgreens didn't have any in stock so I picked up the No. 7 Early Defense Serum. I will say I do prefer the Vichy mineral 89, however, I have not been using the number 7 as long. Both function well as a hydrating extra step in my regimen but you don't have to do this and most people can get away with just using a moisturizer. I tend to include this step for the extra hydration especially with how the changing weather can dry out my skin.

The moisturizer that I have been obsessed with lately is the Tatcha water cream, it soaks into the skin so easily and doesn't leave a greasy film. The packaging alone makes the product look luxurious but the cream its self is amazing. It works so well at hydrating my skin without it feeling greasy and doesn't have an over powering scent either.

All products I discussed are linked below except for the No. 7 Early Defense Glow Serum which I linked here: No.7 Serum. I am not an aesthetician or dermatologist and skincare isn't one size fits all, but I really do enjoy using these products and how they make my skin feel. Do you have a skincare product you just can't live without? Let me know in the comments below.
