5 Reasons I Love October

To say October is my favorite month would be an understatement. I literally love everything about it from the start of fall to the change in style. I feel like just when I'm starting to get tired of the warm summer weather October rolls around and everything fall just falls in your lap. I live in New Hampshire and every fall the change of seasons is so aesthetic and sudden. The leaves start to change color and fall off the trees, and the cooler weather brings a change in wardrobe that I get beyond excited about. I have 5 reasons that I really love October and just fall in general and I thought I'd talk about them in this post.

I don't know if you have been paying attention to social media lately but it seems like as I scroll through Instagram, every picture on my feed has to do with pumpkin spice lattes or at least has a pumpkin or fall leaf in the shot. I know its the start of fall for me when I start seeing pumpkins at the farmer's markets or at the farm stands near my house. This year I got so excited to decorate my front door and everything in my house.

2. Different food
I love eating seasonally and local so when fall starts and apples, pumpkins, carrots and squash are all season I can't wait to bring warmer recipes into my home. I love apple cider, pumpkin pie, candied carrots or carrot bacon (YUM!), and anything butternut squash! Oh, and I can't forget corn! Fresh for on the cob is so amazing as it just comes into season! I always feel like I get new inspiration for recipes when different foods come into season.

3. Nature-Changing Leaves
Since the beginning of the month, driving home from work or even just going out grocery shopping it feels like I am met with such gorgeous scenery. The leaves will start to change colors, some red, orange, and brown and then fall to the ground covering the road just enough so the tarmac shows through. Growing up the highlight of this change was getting to jump in leave piles, but now that I am an adult I can really appreciate how visually appealing the leaves changing is.

4. Outfit changes
Booties, chunky knits, warm and cozy coats, and big scarves are all I need to hear to get inspired to throw together my favorite fall outfits. Layering up and get cozier is one of my favorite parts of fall fashion. You also get to be a little more creative with adding different pieces into your wardrobe because you can layer up and experiment with different looks. Lately I have been loving mixing prints and pushing the boundaries of what I would see as "normal or basic" fashion. My favorite prints right now are cheetah, snake, and camo. If you are interested in seeing more outfits, I post to my Instagram everyday and you can find me here: @whosthemo

5. More Family Time
During the summer we do have the 4th of July at least in the United States, but other than that no real holiday or outing exists during the summer months where family can come together and celebrate. Halloween leads to Thanksgiving which then leads to Christmas and even though Christmas is considered to be in the winter I feel like once one holiday starts the others aren't far off! This October I get to go on vacation with my mom and I am so excited that we get to spend time together!

What is your favorite month? Do you love October like I do, and why? Let me know in the comments below.
