Where I have been and Starting a New Year

Well hello there, and long time no chat. It has been a while since I did a blog post and let me preface by saying boy I’ve been busy. I love my little corner of the internet but this past semester had me beat, along with working full-time and homework, I didn’t have enough time to do any writing that wasn’t for school. I guess that’s what happens when you take five classes, an internship, and work full-time. Anyways, wow 2018! Can you believe it’s already a new year. I’ll be graduating this next semester from college finally, and I think this is going to be my best year yet! While I’m writing this I am on vacation in Jamaica and have had sometime to reflect on what I want and where I see my journey going.

The biggest lesson I feel I want to utilize this year is not worrying so much about what others are doing and their success and to focus more on bettering myself and being the best me I can be. I feel like as a society that is so embedded in social media is so easy to get lost in what others are doing and not be thankful or appreciative of the things you have. Looking deep inside yourself and reminding you why you love you is on of the most gratifying things you can do for yourself (a lot of you’s in that sentence). Focus on your strengths and what makes you happy and then you can be the best version of you and live your best life.

It is important to remember that you are the creator of your own destiny and what you put out in the world usually comes back to you. It’s way easy to be envious of people than it is to go out and grab what you want. Being happy for other people in their success can be difficult sometimes, but it is important to remember their success isn’t your failure. I thought a lot about what I wanted to include in the post, and decided on seven lessons I learned in 2017.

The top lessons I learned in 2017:
1. Don’t spread yourself to thin. Know your limits, but don’t ignore amazing opportunities.
2. Be a girl boss.
3. Don't complain about things that aren’t worth complaining about( I.e. the weather, someone else’s choices, etc.).
4. Find inspiration in every day life.
5. Figure out what your passionate about and run with it. But keep going!
6. Don't let what others think about what your doing effect how your doing it, everyone's path is different.
7. Own your choices, even when they are not great ones, and learn from your mistakes.

Goodbye, 2017! Hello, 2018!
