Masking in the New Year

I received a lot, I mean a lot of skin care for Christmas, however one gift that stood out above the rest was the Peter Thomas Roth- Meet Your Mask 6- Piece Mask Kit. I have been wanting to try the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask and have walked past the 24K Gold Mask multiple times with a spark of curiosity. The kit itself, as the name professes contains 6 miniature sized masks from the brand including the following: Rose stem cell, Blue Marine Algae, Cucumber gel, Irish Moor mud, 24K gold, and Pumpkin Enzyme. What drew me in just so happened to be that each mask stated that it did not have to stay on for any longer than 10 minutes, and when your a busy bee, that is truly something awesome! This post collectively took around a month to complete considering I had to try six different masks and I wanted to give an honest opinion of each and not just slap them on my face in one week or one night, but I think in total I was able to discern which of these masks I would like to purchase a full-size in.

As a disclaimer, yes my hands are extremely dry and I need a manicure bad, but I have been giving my nails a break for the majority of the past month, so lets look past the reptile-esk fingers and focus on the products. The first mask I wanted to try was the Blue Marine Algae Intense Hydrating Mask, because the chilly weather has been making my skin super dry. The mask comes out a translucent gel and totes claims of hydration, anti-aging, and energizing qualities. The directions state to leave the product on for 10 minutes and then rinse with cool water. After using this mask, I did not see much change in my skin other than a modest hydration or dewy texture. I think using this multiple times a week and not just once will offer a better dose of moisture, as the directions do state to use 2-3 times a week.
The second mask was the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask, and oh my gosh, this product smells like pumpkin spice and everything nice! But on a more serious note the scent of the product is amazing, the product itself, I found, has a slight exfoliating property and makes the skin feel smoother after use. The tube claims the product has exfoliating properties, acts a resurfacer, and reveals a smoother more revitalized complexion. The directions state to apply a thin layer on the skin and leave on for 3-7 minutes. I agree with the claims on the tube and this mask is definitely in the running for my full-size purchase option!
After trying the pumpkin mask, and being pleasantly surprised that it wasn't full of empty hype, I knew I had to try the other mask that I had seen hyped up at similar levels, the 24K Gold Mask. The claims on the tube boasts the ability to brighten, tighten, and firm skin while providing the treated skin with a glow. The product directions state to apply the product to the skin and leave on for 5-10 minutes, I did notice a slight change in my skin and it did seem more luminous after just one use.
The Irish Moor Mud Mask was the fourth mask I tried. It was after an extremely long day of work, and I just wanted to relax with a glass of wine and an easy no fuss face mask (and this delivered!) The claims on the tube state that the product purifies, detoxifies, and hydrates. I am slightly biased when it comes to mud masks considering the Origins mud mask has been a big part of my skin care for such a long time. However, this product definitely gave Origins a run for their money. My pores looked visibly smaller after using this product and my skin was super smooth, I still think I will continue to purchase the Origins one though! The directions state to leave the product on for 10 minutes and rinse the skin thoroughly.
I was really excited to try the Cucumber Gel Mask, in my mind I pictured my self lying back with cucumbers on my eyes all snuggled up in a comfy robe and listening to calming music. When in reality I was sitting on my couch with both dogs plopped down sleeping on top of me while watching the TV show the Expanse (awesome by the way if you like Syfy). When squeezed out the product was slightly sticky and as the name professes it was a gel, my skin felt more firm after using and I think this mask would be great during the summer months too. The product claims to refresh, cool, and moisturize and the directions state to leave the product on for 10 minutes.
My introduction to the Peter Thomas Roth brand just so happened to be with the face wash version of this last mask, the Rose Stem Cell Mask. The mask claims to brighten, firm, and tone and it definitely did. The face mask's scent is very similar to the face wash (classic rose) and is just a little more intense in its firming, and brightening properties. The directions state to leave the product on for 10 minutes and then rinse with cold water. Event though this mask was amazing, I had to take it out of the running for my full-size purchase considering I already own the face wash.
In conclusion, if I had to pick the mask that ruled them all it would have to be the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask. The scent truly had me as soon as I opened the packaging and the exfoliating property made my skin feel amazing, but the rose stem cell mask does come in a close second! Obviously with continued use of each product I am sure I will see amazing results because, in my opinion, as a brand Peter Thomas Roth delivers 100%! What is your favorite skin care product right now?
I hope you have a great day!
