2016 Beauty Favorites

Putting this list together was not hard at all considering these are the items that I used more than anything else this past year. These items always made their way to the top of my makeup or skin care bags and I knew where they were 100% of the time. I have limited the list to only have the items that I used the most this past year so there may be more than one item in each category or categories missing, but I only wanted to mention the items I used a ton.

The Hourglass ambient lighting edit in Surreal light was one of those products that the packaging just drew me in right away, it is such a gorgeous white marble print and the Hourglass powders having always been so raved about, so I decided to give it a go and splurge the $80 for the product when it first showed up on Sephora's website. I was so amazingly surprised at how much I love this product; I wear these powders pretty much every day. I get so many compliments on how flawless my skin looks when wearing these powders; the powders work wonders by making my face look glowy but not oily.

NARS was a brand that I really loved this year and I ended up rediscovering a lot of their classic products. As a brand, they just have some awesome staple beauty products that I just always seemed to pick up in 2016 over the other products I own in the same categories. NARS Laguna bronzer works great as bronzer, but it also has some sparkle (not intense at all), making it an awesome illuminizer. Its a perfect color that blends in great with my skin tone and if I want to warm my face up a little while giving a subtle glow, it’s definitely my first choice. Another NARS product that I used loads last year was the radiant creamy concealer in the shade Light2. This concealer is literally amazing at hiding the dark under eye circles that seem to linger around when using other concealers (I've tried a couple others but they just don't measure up). The last NARS product I used a ton this past year is the Velvet Shadow stick in the shade Oaxaca. The pigmentation of this shadow stick is insane and this color blends out to be a subtle bronze/taupe shade (sometimes this is the only eye shadow I wear).

The mascara that continually made its way on to my lashes beating out all others would have to be the Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes Mascara. I used this so much this past year, it's just a simple no fuss, volumizing and lengthening mascara that always has held my eyelashes up all day (they literally go straight down into my eyes sometimes with some other mascaras I have tried, and I don't know why).  This next item has been so hyped up its ridiculous, and is always sold out where ever and whenever I go to stock up, the Kat Von D liquid lipstick in the shade Lolita. Let me just tell you, I'm super ticked off that I lost my full-sized version of this and can only find my miniature. This is just the most perfect dark nude shade, and it layers very nicely with a lot of lip gloss shades I own, when I'm not looking for a more matte look. Another lipstick I couldn't put down was the Urban Decay lipstick in the shade Liar. Its another great everyday nude that is super easy and subtle, almost a "my lips but better" color.

Moving onto skin and hair care products, my favorite makeup remover in 2016 would have to be the Sephora Triple Action Cleansing water. I have used this product forever and have probably purchased it I don't know how many times; it just works and doesn't leave my skin feeling too oily. I will say though, when taking your eye makeup off, start with a little of the product, whenever it leaks into my eye it does sting just a little (the product is so amazing and affordable so I look past it). For a surge of moisture especially in the cooler months, Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask is something I used a ton. I also mentioned this in My Cold Weather Must Haves post, its just an all-around reliable product. Another item I mentioned in my Cold Weather Must Haves post is the Its a 10 Leave in Conditioner. I have used this stuff forever and will continue to use it because I literally can’t find a leave in conditioner that does as great a job as this one. My hair is always so soft and smooth after using this, I love this brand so much and I actually use the matching shampoo and conditioner as well. Finally, my favorite fragrance in 2016 would have to be the Elizabeth and James Nirvana White, I have yet to purchase the full-size bottle, but I went through two roller balls of this and I find those to be the most convenient to just store in my purse on the go. The fragrance is a light feminine, floral scent with a little musk that lasts and lingers.

The year of 2016 was one of great experiences, and new makeup discoveries and rediscoveries.
Here's to another year...Goodbye 2016, and Hello 2017 (I can't wait to see whats in store)!

I hope you have an amazing day!
